What Comes Next
A first look at a more useful Today tab.
What happens after you check in?
Naming a feeling can create a little space. Sometimes that’s enough. Other times, you may want to reflect on what came up, look back at how your week has been going, or try something that helps you move forward.
That question is guiding a new direction for the first tab in How We Feel, currently marked with a +. We’ve been calling it Today: a place to check in, see how your week is taking shape, and find a useful next step.
At the top, a weekly calendar will show your recent check-ins at a glance. You’ll also be able to select an earlier date and add a check-in you may have missed.
For now, the check-in ring will remain familiar, with your current streak just below it.
The bigger change begins as you scroll. A new card-based experience will bring useful actions into view after a check-in, such as reflecting on what you shared, seeing reactions from friends, or trying a recommended strategy or tool.
As you continue scrolling, you’ll also see other kinds of cards, including Emotions 101, your Weekly Review, and Seasonal Snapshot. This new structure gives us a more flexible way to bring helpful parts of How We Feel into one place, without asking you to go looking for them elsewhere in the app.

These designs are still being tested and may change, but the direction is simple: make Today a place not only to check in, but to decide what comes next.

Meet Jordan Kilpatrick of The Brotherhood
Jordan Kilpatrick is the Clinical Director of The Brotherhood, an online therapy practice supporting men across Ontario.
The Brotherhood takes a practical, action-oriented approach to therapy. Its work is designed not only to help men better understand their emotions and recurring patterns, but also to give them something concrete to apply after each session.
That philosophy connects closely with what we are exploring in the Today tab.
Recognizing what you feel is only part of the work. The next step is using that understanding to respond differently. In his practice, Jordan helps men look beneath their reactions, particularly in relationships, and turn what they notice into practical steps they can take outside of sessions.
In the video below, Jordan shares more about his approach to care and how he uses How We Feel with clients.
Jordan has also been a generous and consistent supporter of How We Feel. He has shared thoughtful feedback, helped us better understand how practitioners use the app with clients, and advocated for the role emotional awareness can play in creating lasting change.
We’re deeply grateful for the time, perspective, and encouragement he has given our team.

Thank you for helping shape How We Feel
How We Feel has grown through the thoughtful feedback of people who use the app and tell us what would make it more useful. We’re grateful to everyone who has helped shape the experience so far.
We’ll also be exhibiting at the American Psychological Association’s Annual Convention this August. If you’re planning to attend, reach out to us in advance. We’d love to connect. And if you know a care practitioner who will be there, please send them our way to stop by the booth and say hello.
